This past week, our country was hit by a devastating typhoon. A lot of people perished in the calamity. Many others are missing. Thousands of families lost their home. In the midst of this tragedy, one might ask, “Is there a God?”. “Where is He at a time like this?” Well,God is with us ALL THE TIME. HE is waiting for us to call out to Him, to seek his comfort,to ask for peace, to surrender our cares.

I am reminded of this passage from Ecclesiastes 3:

1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

There is time for everything.Pain and suffering are part of our realities on earth. The good news is that they are temporary.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Finally, here is a promise from our God. HE is with us in the midst of pain and suffering. All we have to do is come to Him.

Psalm 9:9-10
9   The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

This week, I am grateful. I am grateful to be alive. I am grateful to have my family with me. I am grateful to have a home. I am grateful to have a job and a steady source of income. I am grateful to have everything I need plus some. I am grateful for God who is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. God is good, all the time.
