A friend who migrated to Canada 6 years ago was in town and we met up for dinner along with some other former colleagues. Girly is one of my bridesmaids, and I have not seen her in 6 years. She is now married and is a mom to 8-month old Josh who is also my inaanak. Anyway, it was great seeing her after a long time and I also got to meet her hubby and her son. We had dinner at Sugi, one of my fave Japanese restaurants, with good friends Tonton, Rocs and family, Liza, and Cynthia. It was wonderful catching up on each other’s lives, sharing gossips (reunions are never devoid of gossips!), and reminiscing on good old days. I am so grateful to have made friends from work with our friendship enduring time, distance, and career shifts.

I am so happy to finally have put up our Christmas tree. I know that Christmas is never about all these commercial symbols. It’s never about the tree, the carols, the decors. I know that Christmas is about God’s love for man, that He gave his only Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from our sins. However, having these symbols of the season around just uplifts our spirit and they make us happy. So I am glad to have our tree take up a lot of space in our small living room. Let the festivities begin!

Christmas Season begins!

Middle of the week, I woke up early and checked my email. Boy, was I in for a big surprise! Here’s what I got:

Hi, Alby

Thank you for submitting photos to the Windows Personalization Gallery open call!

We love your water-drop and insect photographs, and are looking forward to adding several of them to the gallery. Your insect photos will be featured in a new dynamic nature theme called Insects Dynamic. This new theme will go live on Wednesday afternoon. New images will gradually be added to the theme over time. We may also feature them as standalone desktop wallpapers, on the Desktop Backgrounds page. We will add your credit in the lower right-hand corner of the image, and also in the JPG metadata.

Also, I just thought I’d let you know that we’ve received a huge number of submissions – well over 2,000; and of these we’ve selected fewer than 15% to consider adding to the gallery. Thanks again for participating in the open call!

Isn’t that awesome! This really made my week! It’s not up yet and I’ll definitely post a link here once it’s been made available in the windows website. Meanwhile, this email alone is reason to celebrate. Woohoo!

I have a LONG DELAYED personal project that had dragged on for over a year. I finally got to finish it. And I’m so excited! Will share more about it in a separate blog post but meanwhile, I just want to express my gratitude for the physical strength, the creativity, and definitely the love that fueled me to finally complete the project.

It’s been raining all week and this type of weather makes me feel gloomy. However, I am thankful for a lot of things including the day to day safe drive to and from work. Thank yo Lord!

Happy weekend everyone!!! God bless us all.
