We decided to take the hop on hop off bus tour today. We figured it would be a good way for us to see the key tourist spots at a glance, then decide later on where to go for a better experience. First, we went to Green Park, right across Buckingham Palace. A big section of the park is closed for the Royal Wedding. We saw a lot of media and news agencies setting up their satellite disks (or radars, or whatever they are called) within the enclosed area. The rest of the park is still open to the public and a lot of people were enjoying the sun. Many of them are sprawled on the ground with shirts off or in summer clothes, even though I still feel a bit chilly. The sun was shining brightly but the breeze was still cool. Birds and squirrels abound. It was a very relaxing walk across the park.

Then we walked towards Buckingham Palace. We just wanted photos from the outside. The crowd was huge! We walked around for a bit when there was a sudden commotion and people started running. Apparently, the queen went out of the palace in her chauffeur-driven car and the people tried to catch a glimpse of her. Then the crowd quieted down a bit. After a while, there was another commotion and we saw the horseguards passing by. We knew there won’t be a changing of the guards ceremony that day so it was a surprise to see them strut by. I ran as fast as I could to get to the front of the street to take photos.

After a while, we walked back across Green Park to catch the Hop On Hop Off bus. On our way back, we took a couple more photos.

The bus ride was great. We were on the top of the double decker and we got to enjoy the sights while riding around the city.

I love the red brick buildings all over London

Our next stop was at Madame Tussaud’s Wax museum. The line was so long and it was so hot outside! It wasn’t really part of our original itinerary, but once inside, we had fun having our photos taken with some of the Hollywood replicas. My favorite was Julia Roberts! Ariel said he liked Morgan Freeman the best.

Julia Roberts is so pretty!

After that, we took the bus again to go back to the London Eye area. Again, the bus ride afforded us a nice view of some of the city’s landmarks. We decided to take a short cruise along Thames River. It came free with our Hop On Hop Off tour ticket. It was a pleasant cruise along the river and we learned some trivia about some of London’s landmarks. Our guide was very funny! We really enjoyed it! We got off at the Tower of London but we didn’t get to enter it as it closes early. We just enjoyed a fish and chips early dinner in the area.

We saw the clock tower (aka Big Ben) of the House of Parliament again.

We were so exhausted at the end of the day from all the walking. But it was fun! I am so grateful to the Lord for this awesome opportunity. And I’m also grateful that He has kept us safe during our sightseeing activities.

Can’t wait for the next day! Thanks for looking!
