I joined the Prima Go Green contest this week. I submitted at the last minute and was so surprised to see the announcement of winners early this morning (my entry got in almost midnight last night). I didn’t win, but I am very happy to have come up with a mini featuring my newborn niece. Here is the mini.

Here’s a bit of story. When I first painted the tin cover with crackle paint, it was a complete failure. As soon as the paint dried, the cracked pieces fell off. I realized I didn’t apply a primer, nor did I sand the surface. So, I scraped off the rest of the paint, sanded the surface a bit and coated it with Gesso, followed by brown acrylic paint, before the crackle paint. Success! I sealed it with Mod Podge to ensure no more paint chipping, specially since this is going to be the album case and will be subjected to a lot of handling.

My favorite element is the acetate buttlerfly which I made by stamping on clear acetate with blue StazOn. Then, I wiped yellow StazOn on some parts of the butterfly before applying Stickles and Tulip paint for some glitz and dimension. Love the effect!

For the album, I used my scraps of Prima’s Lucid collection.

I took the photos when Ariel and I visited my cousin 6 days after giving birth. Isn’t my niece the cutest?!

Maybs, yes it is. I got mine from National Bookstore. But it comes in a very big pack. I bought mine more than a year ago pa and it's still almost full. 😀

Alby, your mini is so precious! Is gesso available in our local stores?
